We are the largest immigrant justice network in Washington that convenes and cultivates a statewide transnational solidarity coalition to protect and advance the power and rights of all immigrant and refugee communities. As a queer and transgender led nonprofit, we organize from a place of abundance and commit to intersectional, multifaith, intergenerational, multi-lingual, multiracial, multiethnic immigrant-led efforts by investing in base building and growing the leadership of forced migrants.
The Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network (WAISN) began in 2016 as a rapid response effort in the face of growing threats to immigrant families across the state. We were founded by and for immigrants, led by those often left out of our movements for justice.
Today, WAISN is home to the only statewide hotline dedicated to serving all Washingtonians regardless of immigration status, and the only community funded immigration bond fund in the Pacific Northwest. Our work includes mutual aid, grassroots organizing, and advocating for bold policies that protect and expand immigrant rights.
For nearly a decade, WAISN has been organizing across Washington to defend immigrant rights, respond to the needs of directly-impacted communities, and build lasting power — one campaign, policy, and program at a time.
