Jami Bess is a maternal and reproductive health leader with over a decade of experience advancing equity for low-income families in Washington State. As Director of Programs at Open Arms Perinatal Services, she oversees community-based doula and home visiting initiatives that center culturally grounded care and reproductive justice. Her professional background includes birth doula support, perinatal mental health advocacy, and group and workshop facilitation. A mother of three, Jami’s personal and professional journeys inform her commitment to sustainable workforce development and accessible, affirming care for all families. She also serves as a member of the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence’s Home Visiting Leadership Team. She brings a strong intersectional lens to her work, grounded in lived experience, community partnership, and systemic change.
