About me
Originally from Tennessee, Carlyn holds bachelors degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice and a masters degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice. She moved to Pierce County, Washington in 2012 and began service with Rebuilding Hope as a volunteer victim advocate on the 24/7 helpline in Summer 2013. Since then, Carlyn has served in a variety of roles at Rebuilding Hope, including Volunteer and On-Call Advocate, Prevention Educator, Advocacy Coordinator, STEP (Sex Trafficking and Exploitation Program) Case Manager and Coordinator, Director of Advocacy and Prevention Education and Deputy Director.
Carlyn was appointed as Rebuilding Hope's Executive Director in February 2020, and currently leads the Board of Directors and a team of over 30 volunteers, interns and employees providing community outreach, education, advocacy and therapy in Pierce and Kitsap Counties, and statewide. Since 2023, Carlyn has served as a member of the Washington Attorney General's Office SAFE Advisory Group (Sexual Assault Forensic Exam Best Practices) and on the Washington Administrative Office of the Courts Gender and Justice Commission, and she is currently serving on the SAFE (Strategic Alliance to Fight Exploitation) Steering Committee.
